| Field Days Dr. Schmale routinely conducts demonstrations of his autonomous UAVs at Virginia Tech's Kentland Farm. These Field Days involve presentations from growers and producers, demonstrations of UAVs collecting microbes from the atmosphere, and interactive simulations to compute potential origins and destinations of aerial biota. | Aerobiology demonstrations
for high-school students Dr. Schmale has coordinated and delivered interactive demonstrations for high-school students at Virginia Tech. These demonstrations have included indoor-operation of the microbe-sampling devices on our autonomous UAVs, microbe identification workshops where students observe microbes collected from the atmosphere with UAVs, and pilot training on a flight simulator for RC airplanes. |
